Workshops

Modern Clay run ceramics workshops for the public, and work with organisations to design and deliver bespoke clay making workshops. This includes ongoing partnerships with local charitable organisations supporting vulnerable groups, tailored away-days for business teams and experimental workshops for artist groups. We’ve designed one-off sessions and terms of workshops for organisations including Crisis, The Growing Project, Ikon Youth Project, Restore UK and Syllabus. Contact us to ask about making bespoke workshops for your group or organisation.

Upcoming workshops

All our workshops are currently paused due to Covid-19. Check back here or join our mailing list to hear when new sessions are announced. For details of our past workshops, have a look through the Project Archive.

When it’s safe to do so, we will restart our workshop programme with a Raku workshop as part of the national Raku party held in partnership with the Crafts Council’s Hey Clay! weekend. We were successful in receiving a Bursary from the Leach Pottery to run this free event, and this workshop will see us build a Raku kiln in Modern Clay’s outdoor space, to fire pottery in the fast, low-temperature and always-unexpected Raku method.
